Privacy Policy - Torn Thread Notifier

Torn Thread Notifier ("the Extension") is a free, open-source Chrome extension designed to help Torn City players receive browser notifications when new posts appear in monitored forum threads.

1. We Do Not Collect Personal Data

Torn Thread Notifier does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information about you.

• No analytics or tracking services are used.
• No data is sent to third-party servers (except the official Torn City API — see below).
• No user identifiers, browsing history, or personal details are ever logged or transmitted.

2. Data Processed Locally

All data used by the Extension is stored exclusively on your device using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local):

• Your Torn API key (16-character alphanumeric string)
• List of forum thread IDs/URLs you choose to monitor
• Last known post count for each thread
• Your preferred settings (check frequency, delays, etc.)

This data never leaves your browser and is only accessible to you.

3. Interaction with the Official Torn City API

The Extension communicates directly with https://api.torn.com/ (the official Torn City API) using the API key you provide. This is required to:

• Check for new posts in monitored threads
• Optionally import threads you are already subscribed to on Torn.com

We do not intercept, log, or modify any data exchanged between your browser and api.torn.com. All requests are made directly from your device to Torn's servers — exactly as if you were making them yourself.

4. Permissions Explained

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, all of which are necessary for core functionality:

• storage – To save your settings and monitored threads locally
• alarms – To schedule background checks at your chosen interval
• notifications – To show desktop notifications when new posts are detected
• https://api.torn.com/* – To query the Torn API for thread updates

5. No Data Sharing or Sale

Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing to share, sell, or disclose to third parties — ever.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we ever make changes that affect privacy (highly unlikely), we will update this page and indicate the new "Last updated" date at the top.
